One would think acceptable advertising content would not have to have an exhaustive list of that which will not be accepted. But in this day and age, some folks will think of options we have not considered.
All ads we post are subject to our approval and we will look diligently for those which are not appropriate. Click on the "Website Link:" below and in a case like this one, we would hope to catch it so it would not have been posted and then we would follow up and forward all information we have to the proper authorities.

When someone wants to know more about your services, s/he will want to know where you are located and what you offer. Since ads are sorted alphabetically by title, similar services are sorted together. Since the title field is searchable, someone can find your company simply by typing in your specialty.
This category contains several different specific services, so identify the generic subject as the first word in your ad. For instance, if you offer web site hosting and design, say: Internet, web hosting. You could also provide a separate listing which begins: Web site design
Other search parameters: business name, zip code (both 3 digit and 5 digit), price, free items and new items. If you have questions, please use e-mail contact button.

Alarm system tip - make your car keys a personal, free system
|
Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear something suspicious or someone trying to break into your house, just press the panic button. Your car alarm will be set off and the horn honks until either you turn it off/reset it with the button on the key fob chain or your car battery dies.
Your keys become a security alarm system which requires no installation or cost. Test it.
It will go off almost everywhere inside your house. It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break in your house, a burglar or rapist is less likely to stick around....after a few seconds all nosy neighbors will look out their windows to see who is out there and most criminals won't finish the job with that kind of attention.
If you carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot, the alarm can work the same way there. (Maybe it would also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can't reach a phone.)

Excerpted from Change Is Good, You Go First
|
Several years ago, British Rail had a real fall-off in business. Looking for marketing answers, they went searching for a new ad agency, one to deliver an ad campaign that would bring back their customers.
When the British Rail executives went to the offices of a prominent London ad agency to discuss their needs, they were met by a very rude receptionist, who insisted they wait.
Finally, an unkempt person led them to a conference room, a dirty, scruffy room cluttered with plates of stale food. The executives were again left waiting. A few agency people drifted in and out of the room, basically ignoring the executives, who grew more impatient by the minute. When the execs tried to ask what was going on, agency people brushed them off and went about their work.
Eventually, the execs had enough. As they angrily started to get up, completely disgusted with the way they'd been treated, one of the agency people finally showed up.
"Gentlemen," he said, "your treatment here at our Agency is not typical of how we treat our clients. In fact, we've gone a lot out of our way to stage this meeting for you. We behaved this way to point out to you what it's like to be your British Rail's customer. Your real problem at British Rail isn't your advertising, it's your people. We suggest you let us address your employee attitude problem before we attempt to change your advertising."
The British Rail executives were shocked -- but the agency got the account!
The agency had the remarkable conviction to point out the problem because it knew exactly what needed to change.
