When someone wants to know more about your services, s/he will want to know where you are located and what you offer. Since ads are sorted alphabetically by title, similar services are sorted together. Since the title field is searchable, someone can find your company simply by typing in your specialty.

This category contains several different specific services, so identify the generic subject as the first word in your ad. For instance, if you offer web site hosting and design, say: Internet, web hosting. You could also provide a separate listing which begins: Web site design

Other search parameters: business name, zip code (both 3 digit and 5 digit), price, free items and new items. If you have questions, please use e-mail contact button.

A guide: Eagles Nest Friendship list explained

Several years ago Michelle Virkler and Gene Engle established the Eagles Nest Friendship list to facilitate buying, selling and renting Eagles Nest timeshare units with other owners. When Michelle decided to stop, Don Nixon thought it was helpful and volunteered to keep it active.

If this is the first message you have received, simply click "reply" which confirms you received it.

Please include your name, telephone contact and week(s) and unit # you own and you will receive periodic updates and Eagles Nest news.

At some point, if you own multiple weeks, it may encourage trades to avoid a move to a different unit wasting much of a Friday of your time at Marco. However, management now helps you with those moves so it isn't as much hassle.

When new listings are submitted, we usually check current listings and send details to those on the friendship list. All current listings are posted at:
http://www.radioad.org/whmbtv/classifieds/listings.php?catcode=Timeshare
(You can click on the website link following)

If you have a unit to rent, buy, sell or trade, it's easier if you send us details. We post your listing to fit our format to sort correctly. Include your e-mail and telephone contact so interested parties may easily contact you directly.

The list is not affiliated with Hilton and there is no reason to avoid any other means to find someone who may have an interest in what you are listing.

The "Exp" is the date a listing automatically expires. You should get a system generated e-mail the day before your listing expires to remind you to renew it.(*) If details are still correct, simply click reply. That sends us detail to reset the expiration which extends your listing for another 15 days. Clicking reply makes it easier for us to update your listing. (For sale listings usually expire on the 30th day of the month)

The identification number is automatically included so you need not add any message unless you want to change the price or other details. Since these are essentially sent to about 700 other owners, who know how the Eagles Nest time share works, the only pertinent details are week number, unit and price. Listings are then posted in sequential week number order: for rent, for sale and wanted

Since some owners also have timeshares at other properties, we accept those listings, including units an Eagles Nest owner has available at the Marco Beach Ocean Resort next door.  To ignore any of those listings simply add "Eag" in the search box above "Name/business"

When you are in Marco and talk to your friends, see if they are on the friendship list. If they are not, simply send us their contact information. With more owners on the list, the better response you will get.

Currently there is no charge for owners to subscribe to the list or post listings. However, at one point when an owner advised the front desk persons of available units, they were given a "spiff" which I think was $25. If you make an arrangement through the Friendship List, feel free to carry on the tradition for any amount you think appropriate.

There is a fee for non subscribers to submit listings.

The last time I checked, current rental information through Eagles Nest is at this link: (don't rely on this being current)
www.floridagrandvacations.com/marcoisland/eaglesnest_rates.php

Note: If you decide to go through Hilton's program to either rent or sell your unit, you sign an exclusive contract with them and must pay the fee regardless of who initiates a deal. Often transactions through that source may be less hassle.

Vacation planning calendar for Eagles Nest Fri to Fri is included at this link:  (don't rely on this being current)
www.hgvc.com/hoa_calendar/VacationPlanningCalendar.pdf

(*)This is a typical system generated message so you may want to make sure future messages don't go to your junk mail folder.

Listings are automatically posted on several other databases which is why “Eagles Nest and Marco Island” are included in listing details. The phone number listed makes direct contact with the owner on the Friendship List so it does not go through Eagles Nest or Hilton Grand Vacations and is not affiliated with either of those entities.

Friendship List information for each individual is not available to anyone who does not have authorization and is not posted or public. Currently there are more than 600 names on the list and each has a unique id#. If you want to verify someone is on the list, ask for the number and send it to us.

When new information for the Eagles Nest Friendship list is received, it’s posted and periodically an e-mail is sent to those on the list.(*) This e-mail notice is no longer system generated. It will be sent from Don. If you "unsubscribe" to it, you will no longer get any of those updates, although you may still receive system generated notices.

If you are new to the list, you should receive your first e-mail in a day or so. System generated messages are not monitored for receipt and some folks report they do not consistently receive them. I have set up a separate mail to include the updates.(*) You can respond to either one if you have a question.

However, if you select unsubscribe on that list, your e-mail will permanently be deleted.

If your e-mail address changes, you will no longer receive updated messages.

Your submissions are edited for consistency and style, which is standard English with capital letters and lower case as appropriate.

If it's tedious to go through all current listings, you can use the search feature to find specific weeks or for rent or for sale items. Remember to hit the search key at the top of the page and at the bottom right of the top box with fields in it.

To submit information, or if you have questions, simply hit reply. There's no charge to join the friendship list or post information. Suggest you include e-mail contact and telephone number to make it easy for someone to respond to your listing. If you are selling a unit, it's helpful to identify if fixed or flex.

If you don't want to participate, simply hit the reply button and mark "delete" and all your contact information will be deleted.

Thanks
Willard Rohrer

PS - If you have questions simply click the reply button on any message which will identify the listing you have a question about. If you have an interest in any listing, simply click the "Make an offer" button to send an e-mail to the person who has listed the item.

A guide: How to make: A change in ownership

Real estate Q&A: How can I help my children avoid probate after I'm gone?

By: Gary M. Singer, Sun Sentinel

Q: I live in a condo in a 55+ community and want to help my children avoid probate when I eventually pass away. What should I do? -- Sheryle

A: This is a question asked of me many years ago by my most loyal reader, my mother. I answered her question in person at the time and will now share that answer with you because my mother passed away this week, and her foresight with this question, and the action we took, will spare us the expense and hassle of having to probate her home.

Kindly remember that everyone's situation is unique, and a newspaper column is not a substitute for the advice of an estate planning attorney.

There are three good choices depending on your situation. The first choice is a Life Estate Deed, where property owners retain ownership of the home for their lifetimes, and when they die, the home passes to their initial choice of recipients without any further action being required. Simply, once the "life-tenant" passes away, the chosen person (or people), known as the "remainderman," automatically becomes the owner. The downside to this choice is that the chosen remaindermen are "vested," meaning their interest in the property is locked in. The property owner cannot later change his or her mind, sell or even mortgage the property without the remainderman's consent.

To fix this problem, an Enhanced Life Estate Deed was developed. This type of deed became known as a "Lady Bird Deed" following an article years ago illustrating its uses by a prominent Florida attorney. The name stuck, as did the document because of its usefulness. This type of ownership is very similar to a standard life estate, but the remainderman's interest in the property is not vested, meaning the homeowner can freely change his or her mind about who takes the property afterward, and can sell or mortgage the property without anyone's consent. This flexibility can also be a downside, since some seniors are susceptible to influence and may be coerced into making changes that are not in their best interest.

The final choice is to set up a living trust. This choice provides the most flexibility and is best for people with more assets to plan for. While trusts are almost all upside, the negative is they are significantly more expensive and complicated to set up than either type of life estate deed.

I had an idea... (1959) after I knew something about this one from the organizers

Summertime in most American cities evokes visions of ice cream trucks, swimming pools, and summer camps. But in one small Indiana town, summertime is the season of the circus.

Peru, Ind., known as the Circus Capital of the World, has been home to the Peru Amateur Circus since 1960. Each summer, for eight days in July, 200 young people put on a show that transforms the town of about 11,000 residents into a spectacular festival, culminating with the Circus Heritage Parade.

Tina Leto, a photographer who visited the circus first as a child and revisited the scene periodically, says she remembers wondering, “why is this circus here?”

She set out in 2008 to find answers, discovering that the love of circus ran in the city’s blood. Ben Wallace first brought his circus to the town in the late 1800s. He was followed by scores of traveling shows that established winter headquarters just southeast of Peru. The city was once so ubiquitous with the performances that, in the 1920s, Peru became known on maps as the “Circus City.” But by the 1940s the circuit no longer wintered in Peru, favoring, instead, Florida.

In an attempt to revive its heritage, the city launched Circus City Days in the 1950s. By 1959, high school students were trained to perform a few acts that were so popular that the following year a circus tent was rented for the inaugural Peru Amateur Circus. Leto says the value of the circus transcends the staged acts, serving as a community center. “It’s this community that kind of grows up together.”

No child is turned away from participating, as long as they are age seven to 21. “They’re not looking for just the talented who can shine—of course that is there,” Leto says, “but everybody is allowed in.” Some children come from generations of circus performers, carrying on a familial dynasty, at least at the community level. In one photograph, Tarrin Cooper walks a high wire during the occasional roadshow. She is the great granddaughter of famed lion tamer Clyde Beatty, who went from cleaning cages to owning his own show.

The circus is a vestige “from the halcyon days of the traveling circuses,” Leto says, noting a contrast between the jubilance of circus week and the local economic troubles. “It’s not vibrant. It’s suffering.”

While the summer liturgy is a spirited homage to the town’s past, it is fleeting. The borrowed exotic animals depart following a parade cameo; the ad hoc performers retreat to childhood; and the residents return to the struggling Midwestern town that is the subject of the Facebook page ‘Save Peru,’ dedicated to “promoting local businesses, history, events and the over all love for the town itself.”

But, the magic of the the summer spectacle will, it seems, tenaciously preserve the city’s proud title as the Circus Capital of the World—even potentially taking their talent to the nation’s capital, where the circus has been invited by the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. to perform at the National Mall next summer.

The Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum Is Open 7 days a week from 9am - 5pm.

Home of the Classics Since 1974

When the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum first opened its doors to the public on July 6, 1974, an era of exciting automotive history came brilliantly to life. That summer Saturday, culmination of dreams, held by many, a permanent institution would be created as a lasting tribute to Auburn’s rich motorcar heritage. Never before had there been proposed an automobile museum inhabiting the auto builder’s original factory showroom building.

But such was the historical context conceived by a band of visionaries – local citizens believing passionately in the possibility of a museum – who would not give up their goal to rescue the Auburn Automobile Company's 1930 administration building.

After the Auburn company's demise in 1937, the factory showroom and headquarters served as a parts and restoration center for the obsolete Auburn, Cord, and Duesenberg cars. Surprisingly, this activity lasted through the 1940s and 1950s, under the name Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Company, directed by entrepreneur Dallas Winslow. When Winslow sold the business in 1960, the building fell into misuse and ill repair. Machine shops, garment manufacturers, auto and motorcycle lots and industrial warehousing ravaged the historic structure.

By the early 1970s, the handsome art deco edifice was grimy, weather-beaten and modified beyond recognition inside.

For many years the ACD Club of car owners gathered in Auburn during the Labor Day weekend for a swap event for parts and sometimes a parade of cars through town to show off refurbished vehicles and get help from other car owners or fans.

In 1968, Nixon Newspapers acquired the Auburn Printing Company which printed the Evening Star. Don Nixon was publisher.

Nixon along with John Martin Smith, Jack Randinelli, Bob Kokenge and Tom Nixon discovered the Club was tired of feeling less than a warm welcome back to Auburn and planned to move their Labor Day event to Connersville where the Duesenberg had been built.

Nixon's neighbor, Russell Kruse, was pestered to help the group raise money to refurbish the building and help keep the Labor Day event returning with the first annual auction, and included in the contract, a portion of sales would be dedicated to fund restoration of the historic building.

The auction continues annually, a Labor Day Weekend highlight and remains in Auburn. The building is now a fine museum with year round activities you can visit or hold private activities for business or personal events.

Credible sources of information are valuable, respected and reliable. Advertisers like to attempt to gain the same reputation and sources of information often “lend” their reputation to their paying supporters.

It’s begins a tightrope journey from integrity.

Prayer Quilt

PRAYER QUILT
Jennifer Thornburg, San Tan Valley, Arizona

I started quilting so I could spend time with my aunt. I didn’t accomplish much until my little sister was put into the hospital. She lived 13 hours away, which meant I couldn’t be at her side, but I could pray, and I could make her a blanket.

Every stitch was sewn with prayer and tears, memories woven in between layers of cotton and polyester. Doctors said she was going to die at least three times. I sewed faster. By God’s good grace, I delivered that blanket two years ago, and my sister still sleeps under it today.
