Everything I learned from the family newspaper companies, Indiana University
and Culver, whether playing sports, study projects, make friends were influenced
with these persons, and suspect many of the spouses, who likely may have been
as significant.
Peru Daily Tribune provided IHSAA basketball results by phone and introduced
me to direct customer contact likely in 1950. Many thanks. It's been an adventure.
There is no "free" project, but value must be within to exchange value for value
whether it is for hire or merchandise. Paid subscribers made the newspaper
product reliable and valuable for the readers and advertisers. Renewals were
the best measure of content value.

Some of these are principally outdoor games but suspect it wouldn't be difficult to make them indoors. Croquet or bocce comes to mind. But the huge advantage of the indoor plan is no weather delays or interruptions and suspect outdoors wouldn't make as much difference as it does in an activity like badminton.
